Birmingham part worn tyres

16th, August 2010

Car owners in Birmingham have been found to have only checked their tyre tread depth as and when they get round to it, the latest tyre survey showed.  Safety experts recommend checking tyre tread depths should be done on a regular basis.

The current tyre laws in Great Britain are 1.6 mm to comply with the law. Fines for illegal tyres can range up to £250 and points on your driving licence.

Birmingham trading standards warned of part worn tyres being used on caravans. All part worn tyres sold by reputable garages should be stamped on the side wall of the tyre stating that it is a part worn. These tyres can be a cost effective way of saving money provided they have been pressure tested and thoroughly examined for any side wall or tread damage.
